SUMMARY:Plein Aire Without Panic- Judy Lochbrunner
DESCRIPTION:THIS CLASS SESSION IS CANCELED. \nA 3-hour class designed to take the fear out of making art outside. \nClass dates: Aug 13th & 27th. This class will be limited to 8 students\, and the cost is $85 total. We meet promptly at AHACC at 9:30 am for each class orientation/restrooms/questions and will finish at 12:30 pm.\nArt Supplies:\nViewfinder is a must – you can check YouTube videos on how to make one.\nFolding easel at standing height or large foam core for your lap & towel to cover your legs.\nCamp stool or folding lawn chair\nPaint\, or use markers\, colored pencils\, watercolor pencils\, etc.\nIf needed a small\, medium & large brush.\nPaint palette- take-out shallow pan\, egg carton (plastic or Styrofoam)\nContainer for brushes\, or pencils\, crayons\, markers\, etc.\n8″ x 10″ (max) Painting surface (paper\, canvas board\, gesso prepared panel\, etc.)\nPersonal Supplies: Hat with a brim to see color better; Sunscreen; Bug Spray; Water to stay hydrated; Paper towels for clean-up; Spring mornings start out cool-dress in layers. \nJudith’s love of plein air (outdoor) painting has combined her love of the outdoors with her love of painting. She truly appreciates that the landscape changes each day in beautiful ways to create endless artistic inspiration.

SUMMARY:Gelli Monoprint & Beyond Workshop with Nancy Newhard
DESCRIPTION:August 19th (10:30am-4:30pm)  This printmaking is a fast easy way to learn the basics of printmaking. Use art elements and principals of design to create one-of-a-kind prints that work up very quickly using provided paints and tools. We’ll do some with just color\, try some stencils\, add bits of collage once they are dry (they dry very quickly). We’ll do a basic plate and then start experimenting. Wear clothes to “play dirty!” come ready to experiment. Cleanup is simple with baby wipes\, but all the art tools will be provided. Please bring a brown bag lunch or a snack-once started you may not want to stop! Best for ages 14+\, no experience necessary. No cell phones\, please. \nNancy Newhard\, Curator at AHACC is the instructor for this class. Nancy’s educational background includes MS from Radford University\, BS from Longwood University\, and studies at Hollins University. She has been a Council Member with the VA Assoc. of Museums\, and other memberships include VA & Baltimore Watercolor Societies\, Smithsonian Assoc.\, Taubman Museum\, and Virginia Museum.
