SUMMARY:Story/Craft Hour K - 3rd Grade
DESCRIPTION:This class is for kids ages K – 3rd Grade the first Wednesday of the month from 10 am – 11 am. SUMMARY:Painting on Feathers-Ronald Navroski
DESCRIPTION:This class will be on October 8th from 10 am – 12 pm.  The cost is $20 and open to students as young as 8 years old and to adults. There will be a maximum of 10 so be sure to register by October 3rd. Students will learn how to paint on feathers\, and will be taking home a feather pen. All supplies will be provided.\nRonald Navroski is a self-taught artist who began his career in oil. Navroski began to be more passionate about choosing a medium with meaning.  He chose to paint on feathers.  Feather painting is a creative method to symbolize the powerful meaning of feathers which represents honor\, trust\, strength\, wisdom and freedom.  A unique one of a kind “art” that is deeply revered and a sign of high honor from the heavens.   Ronald has won numerous awards and his feathers are displayed in the Shop of Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center\, as well as other shops throughout Virginia.

SUMMARY:Alcohol Ink Creative Techniques: Jennifer Galvin
DESCRIPTION:This class introduces students to alcohol inks and all the possibilities of the inks. With the guidance of Jennifer Galvin\, we will be using alcohol ink to create a beautiful\, colorful piece of art work to take home. You don’t have to be an artist to create a masterpiece; alcohol ink is easy to work with and looks great when you’re finished! Even beginners will enjoy this workshop. If you’ve been interested in learning how to work with alcohol ink\, this workshop is for you! Jennifer will bring photo paper\, yupo paper and tiles for all participants to practice on\, so you can see how the ink works on different surfaces. We’ll start with experimenting with the inks and color\, and then learn some techniques for controlling how to make the ink do more of what you want it to do. Everyone will go home with a lovely tile fit for framing\, or your tile can be used as a trivet or coaster—perfect for a gift! Class limited to 10. \nVirginia based artist\, Jennifer Galvin\, reclaims discarded material and gives it new life—old t-shirts\, jeans\, and mat board are transformed into intricate works of art. Jennifer has been making paper since 2002 and has a degree in art from Oregon State University. Jennifer also enjoys working in alcohol ink and has been working in this medium since 2016.  Jennifer Galvin has 25+ years of experience in art instruction. Jennifer has taught art to people of all ages in printmaking\, papermaking\, alcohol ink\, and painting. Jennifer is currently on the Artists Roster at the Virginia Commission for the Arts. http://www.arts.virginia.gov/roster_Jen_Galvin.html  Jennifer’s pulp paintings have been shown regionally\, nationally\, and internationally\, and have won several awards in National Juried Exhibitions. She is a member of IAPMA (International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists)\, NAHP (North American Hand Papermakers)\, FCCA (Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts)\, and her work is shown locally at Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center in Clifton\, Forge.
