DESCRIPTION:*THIS CLASS HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR APRIL\nLois has been making Christmas Fabric Ball Ornaments for many years\, and they always sell out in the Shop!  One of her hand-crafted Christmas ornaments was selected in 2018 to represent Clifton Forge\, VA\, on the Christmas tree at the Governor’s Executive Mansion.  In this class\, Lois is going to teach us how to create these beautiful ornaments for your 2022 Christmas Tree\, or to give away as a gift!  The Fabric Ball workshop will take place on January 29th from 10 am to 1 pm. SUMMARY:Whiskey Bottle Painting with Nancy Smith
DESCRIPTION:We will be painting a Fall or Halloween scene.  Using paint and sharpie pens\, each student will learn to paint on a whiskey bottle.  The next day after each project has baked overnight and the paint has set\, the bottles will be available for pick-up.\nThis class will be on Oct. 2 (11 am – 2 pm) and is limited to 3-10 students.  The cost is $25 and all supplies will be provided.  Please register below by 9/30/21 to ensure a spot!\nNancy Smith has been teaching and painting on unique materials for over 35 years.  Several of her projects are displayed at Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center\, Inc.

DESCRIPTION:The objective of this class is learning how to put together gems on wire to make the form of a tree.  Such as the one pictured here.  The class is open to anyone 15 years old and up\, and will be held on September 18th from 1 pm to 4 pm.  All materials will be provided and the cost is $30.  Please register below by September 11th to ensure your spot.\nLois is one of the artists featured in the Shop here at Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center.  She lives in Botetourt County and draws inspiration from the mixed forest surrounding her log home.  Lois continues to explore new and challenging material to capture the form and essence of her subjects.

DESCRIPTION:This 2-day workshop is available to ages 16 and up. Masa paper is a type of rice paper. When it is wet and crumpled\, then touched with paint (acrylic or watercolor) the darker colors settle into the crinkles and create a batik-like effect\, but without the mess of wax. \nSupplies will be mostly provided for the class\, however\, bring your choice of brushes\, and favorite acrylic and/or watercolors plus a stack of newspapers\, a reference photo\, and a sense of adventure! Brown bag lunch or snack\, and a plastic trash bag to carry things home will help too.\n8/15 & 8/16 from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm. Cost is $50. Register by 8/13

DESCRIPTION:Make a jeweled tree as a gift for someone special or keep it for yourself!\nThe class will be held on July 19th & 20th from 12 noon – 4 pm.  The cost of the class is $35 and covers both days.  This will be a fun class for all!  Students can include teens (although older children could probably do this with a smaller 5″ x 7″ tree)  to seniors  and will be limited to 8- so reserve your spot soon!  Just bring a picture frame (7″ x 9″ or 8″ x 10″) of choice and any special piece (s) of jewelry you would like in the tree.  All other supplies will be provided.\n \nThis is a 2-session class taught by Libby Burger.\n“I am a retired RN who considers myself a ‘Jack of all trades and Master of none!'”  Libby has been enjoying “playing” in the Art World since retiring 10 years ago.  She has taken numerous classes and watched a plethora of YouTube videos to learn methods and techniques\, so that she might produce her very own works of art.  Recently she has dabbled with stained glass\, floral decorations\, jeweled art\, photography\, collage and most recently painting with acrylics.
