Lori utilizes the precise\, smooth nature of gouache (an opaque water-based medium) to create works that illuminate shape and detail. McMahon works in oil\, as well as gouache\, to achieve recognizable shapes and values found in nature. \n“In all cases I am attempting to sense the unique features and atmospheric forces of a place\, picking and choosing what to emphasize or de-emphasize.
