The Center is open 10-4:30\, Tues-Saturday until the May 1st when summer hours add Mondays from 10-4:30 and Sundays from 1-4pm.\n There are plenty of techniques and ideas to explore here\,  from the classical to  contemporary. Come see what you think. Donald Earley’s exhibit will continue through May 17. Admission is free.\n  \n  \nArtist Statement: In search of inspiration\, I am sitting on a rock. SUMMARY:Pam Hirts Barn Quilt Painting Class
DESCRIPTION:Join Pam Hirt on April 26 for a three day barn quilt painting class. Staring Friday\, April 26th from 5pm to 9pm\, you will create a design of your choice on 2×2 board with outdoor paint. You will come back on Saturday\, April 27th from 1-5pm and on Sunday\, April 28th from 1-5pm to finish your painting. The instructor will supply a board and black and white paints. Students are expected to bring: Paint\, 1″ angled brushes\, and painters tape. There are ten tickets available\, priced at $100 each. You must be 16 or older to attend. You can purchase a ticket through our website with the “get tickets” option at the bottom of the page\, by calling the Art Center at (540) 862-4447\, or by visiting our physical location. \n  \nPam is an artist with varied interests. Based on her interest of counted cross stitch\, she likes to chart her design on grid paper\, and go from there. She has taught several classes in barn quilt painting at AHACC\, including the popular snowman quilt\, “Company’s Coming.” \n

SUMMARY:Going Forth: Exhibit by Charlie Brouwer
DESCRIPTION:EXHIBIT OPEN MAY 22 THROUGH JUNE 14\, 2024.\nGoing Fourth\, an exhibit of charcoal drawing by Artist Charlie Brouwer of Willis VA\, is his response to suddenly becoming blind in the fall of 2022. His condition meant he was unable to drive or read and could not use power tools to construct the wood sculptures he’d been creating for 40 years. As his wife drove him here and there\, he looked out the window at the dark silhouettes of trees against the winter sky. The trees spoke to him in many ways\, reminding him of strength\, resilience\, calmness\, patience and quiet acceptance of the way things can be overcome by their beauty. He began drawing them with charcoal- charcoal that comes from trees. “The exhibit is about trees and going forth from where we are\, with whatever we have to seek beauty\, truth\, and goodness wherever we can find them.” This exhibit is immersive and strong\, full of quiet beauty and heart. \nThere will be a reception to meet the artist on Sunday\, June 2 from 2-4 pm. Admission is FREE.\nArt Center hours: Monday- Saturday 10am to 4:30pm and Sunday 1-4pm \n  \n
