This is a free exhibit that began on May 23rd and continues through June 21st. “Stack & Whack”, “Jelly Roll”, “Crazy Quilt”, and “9 or 16 Patch”… terms Quilters would be familiar with, and represented in the Alleghany Highlands Arts & Craft Center’s Gallery. These pieces range in age from the 1890’s, as seen in the image of the “Cigar Band Quilt” made from silk cigar wrappers, to present time. They were each made by a single quilter, or groups of friends working alongside one another. Some quilts were made to honor, as in the “Remembrance” honoring the victims of the 911 Pentagon attack, and others are fun and whimsical like “Camper’s Dream”. Many of the quilts are of traditional design, and others are original in design. Please stop by and visit these amazing quilts! We are open Monday – Saturday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, and Sundays 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
