This class introduces students to alcohol inks and all the possibilities of the inks. With the guidance of Jennifer Galvin, we will be using alcohol ink to create a beautiful, colorful piece of art work to take home. You don’t have to be an artist to create a masterpiece; alcohol ink is easy to work with and looks great when you’re finished! Even beginners will enjoy this workshop. If you’ve been interested in learning how to work with alcohol ink, this workshop is for you! Jennifer will bring photo paper, yupo paper and tiles for all participants to practice on, so you can see how the ink works on different surfaces. We’ll start with experimenting with the inks and color, and then learn some techniques for controlling how to make the ink do more of what you want it to do. Everyone will go home with a lovely tile fit for framing, or your tile can be used as a trivet or coaster—perfect for a gift! Class limited to 10.
Virginia based artist, Jennifer Galvin, reclaims discarded material and gives it new life—old t-shirts, jeans, and mat board are transformed into intricate works of art. Jennifer has been making paper since 2002 and has a degree in art from Oregon State University. Jennifer also enjoys working in alcohol ink and has been working in this medium since 2016. Jennifer Galvin has 25+ years of experience in art instruction. Jennifer has taught art to people of all ages in printmaking, papermaking, alcohol ink, and painting.
